CAPTCHA VALIDATION

This is just a quick post regarding CAPTCHA's, i find it totally idiotic that imature developers turn to CAPTCHA's, as soon as they start to encounter spam.

Well known sites like Facebook, has far better methods to deal with spam. While they still use CAPTCHA's, they only do so when the behaviour of the user matches that of a spam bot.

I'm still ageinst any form of CAPTCHA's, because its not like it would be hard to get rid of spam through other, less disruptive ways.

The amount of spam recieved on blogs is very little, and even easier to deal with. I do get a lot of spam messages, the way i dealt with the first strike, was simply by blocking the source IP. I don't know how many IP's that i've blocked, but i'd imagne about 200, which isn't even that much.

I try to think as a developer, but still as a user of the system. So how can i fix this without annoying users? The answer is easy, simply deal with as much spam as i can programatically (behaviour, pattern matching. Etc), and then manually deal with the rest.

You must expect some administrative work to be required when running a website. If you don't have the time yourself, then you should hire an Adminstrator/Webmaster.
