IE7 and Notepad plus plus

Ok I've had some really weird experiences doing the last couple of days, i was suddenly striked by a bunch of random errors, and all while Internet Explore started freezing. What is going on, sigh?

New FTP-Client, and a few updates.

I have no idea as of what is going on, it started when i ran into some problems when uploading one of my .htaccess files, i had just shifted from SmartFTP to FileZila, since SmartFTP isn't free anymore. For some reason the .htaccess started to cause the 500 - Internal Server Error, this usually indicate some sort of syntax error, trying to fix the error i started getting some wired error of which i don't remember.

Finally i figured the syntax was perfect, so i suspected it had to do with the format of the file, and i was right. It turned out that i needed to save it in the UNIX format, rather then the windows format. This was easily done in Notepad++, another wired problem however also accrued, rather suddenly it appeared to remove all my spaces and returns in the event i pressed the save button (this was before i figured to save it in the UNIX format), i never really figure out why it did it, i sure haven't experienced anything like it before.

Nevertheless, i quickly got an old copy of my .htaccess, and re-made the modifications, but it still didn't work when uploading, so i did a google search, and that's where i learned to try the following, rename and save my .htaccess to whatever.txt, and then rename it back to .htaccess after uploading.

Its not the first time I've had these problems with .htaccess, but i still somehow managed to get them working, simply by scratching everything, and writing it all over in notepad or notepad++, but then again i was using SmartFTP at that time, so that may have had something to do with it.

Second Strike?

The Right-Click-Menu Items started to behave wired, while i was playing around with some JavaScript Regular Expressions for my syntax highlighter on Brugbart, in the Try-it editor at w3schools. (Yes i know, i haven't gotten around making my own yet, that is a planned feature on Brugbart though).

First The "Edit with notepad++" item disappeared from the Right-Click Menu, i was somewhat annoyed/confused about it, but quickly just selected notepad++ from the "Open With" Items list, in the thought that it may fix itself after a reboot later or something.

I managed to edit the Source, and upload it. But when i was about to make some adjustments, both the "open with" and "edit with notepad++" disappeared, so i began fearing that i somehow must have picked up a virus, which seamed unlikely, i had only downloaded FileZila, along with some updates for some browser addons and an update for Notepad++, i dismissed the idea on this reasoning. It is worth to mention that i haven't had a detected virus for a very long time, nevertheless i scanned my system using NIS2008 (which i have installed), however it only found the old tracking cookie which it for some reason had been unable to delete up until now, however to my surprised it managed to delete it this time, Yay one of the problems i was to lazy to investigate fixed itself.

But hay, I've had that Tracking cookie for weeks, maybe even months, that can hardly be it. So i saved my work, closed all browser windows, the Items in the Right-Click Menu came back after doing this, so i now suspect it has something to do with IE7, no matter, i just opened up a new browser window, and finished my Regular Expressions to allow for basic syntax highlighting.

Third Strike?

After haven gotten a few hours sleep, i decided to improve it, guess what happened after working a few mins/hours, bang! God Damn Exception 666 when trying to open a file with Notepad++, nevertheless it was enough to interrupt my work to write this Blog post. Above happened while IE7 was open of cause, everything went back to normal when i closed IE7.

Above leaves me using FireFox for now, i suspect that Notepad++ somehow conflicts with IE7, though I'm not to familiar with windows programming. Maybe this leaves me with some time to try out some of the more popular editors, I.E. Dreamweaver, without using the WYSIWYG part of cause.

The crash problem with notepad++ continiues, it still seams like it conflicts with IE7.

Norton

Anyway, the problem with norton just came back today, when it notified me about some (3038,107) error.

Comments on the Site

And it would also seam that i somehow must have managed to disable comments on the blueboden.com, atleast it didn't pass on the post value, leaving people with a "unknown post id", atleast this should be fixed now.
