Internet trolls and spam is a big problem, and some site-owners just don't know how to deal with it. Hence why some make the wrong decisions, which in turn effect the usability of their sites.
Just like we need police in real life, we also need some police on the Internet. Both to remove trolls, and to clean up left-over garbage and spam. Much of the latter can be automated, due to most spam being automated, and sharing the same characteristics.
Don't you just find it annoying when you failed some CAPTCHA image, which could have been avoided entirely in the first place?
If you ain't prepared to run a community website, then don't get started. That goes especially for sites which can afford to hire some clean-up crew.
